THE COMPANY
Ominous style co is a grooming brand out of Virgina by Nic Donini. He brewed handmade all natural pomades.
Co is no longer in existence.
POMADE IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Ominous style co’s heavy hold. Comes in a 4 oz (113 g) tin with stickers. The pomade’s color is light yellow.
INGREDIENTS
Beeswax, coconut oil, lanolin, hydrogenated castor oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, vitamin E oil, essential oils.
SCENT
Nic Donini calls this: the graveyard scent. I notice a herbal, fresh, not dirty, somewhat eucalyptus, minty aroma. In the tin: scent is a bit sharp. In the hair: sharpness less noticeable. Didn’t remark the scent anymore once I smeared it into my hair. For those loving an entire day lingering aroma, this won’t do i
STYLING PROCESS
My hair: I’ve medium thick, wavy hair. I wear a side part with a contour.
My styling equipment: at the moment, I’m using a brush with wild boar hair, a Denman brush plus a wide tooth comb (detangler). During styling, I use brushes most.
Application: into damp hair to avoid tug and pull. 3 normal sized licks of pomade.
Scooping: very solid pomade surface. lots of pressure, fingernails may help. Ribbons up. The layer underneath is easier to scoop: creamier.
Breakdown: this product has a waxy, somewhat sticky, thick texture and becomes creamy mixing in your hands using some force. No wax beads.
Working in: goes in easy (no tug or pull), spreads alright. Gives a bit of a sticky grip.
Combing back: with my Denman brush vs tug or pull: no. Pomade feels dry when combing: you hear ‘a dry noice’, rrt rrt rrt.
Control: manages my waves, sides, cowlicks very well. Nice clean hairdo without annoying flyaways, great hair lines. Insane height.
SHINE
A few notches above natural all day long: okay for this heaviness.
HOLD
This is a real heavy heavy. Nic loves heavies and this one reflects that.
ENDURANCE
After the initial styling, hair maintains shape perfectly: no strays, no flyaways will pop up, hair goes nowhere! Holds hair in place the whole day, straightens waves, tames cowlicks, sides are held down great like the best. Heavy wind or any rain, cycling or a walk don’t mess up the hair. Didn’t test in the heat but this pomade will survive for sure! End of the day story: nearly no flyaways, strays, sagging, no splitting: incredible!
RESTYLING
I didn’t need to recomb. No loss of hold after restyling. Waves didn’t came through, sides were held down. No resistance during restyling (Denman brush).
BUILD UP
Strong build up. Days after: one (little) scoop extra: ready. Don’t use too much (weighing down), the build up combined with a hair tonic provides great styling.
WASH OUT
Need around 3 shampoos to wash out (shampoo). After the rinse: healthy and soft hair.
