Chrissi’s Haarpomade, Ceres: medium hold oil based pomade

Chrissi's Haarpomade Ceres mittel | PomadeShop

THE COMPANY

Chrissi’s Haarpomade is a German, handmade pomade by barber Björn Wünsch. He offers light, medium, firm and heavy hold oil based pomades.

Note from Chrissi’s: unfortunately we could not convince the bees to always deliver a 100% same consistency of wax, so we ask for your understanding that we cannot always guarantee 100% constant consistency with a handmade pomade made with natural ingredients.

I bought mine at Pomadeshop Germany: https://pomadeshop.com/marken/chrissi-s-barbierstube/1574/chrissi-s-haarpomade-ceres-mittel

POMADE IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Chrissi’s, medium hold, oil based pomade: Ceres. Ceres portrays a goddess but also a dwarf planet. The 80 g (2.8 oz) packaging is refreshing: a screw top lid with stamped in yellow label. Bottom side contains hold + shine ratios, directions, ingredients, address, bar code and use best within 12 months. Pomade is dark yellow.

INGREDIENTS (without the Latin)

Beeswax, petrolatum, lanolin, argan oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, fragrance oil.

In my opinion, a great choice of components to nourish, condition hair and scalp!

SCENT

Spicy, herbal, citrusy, manly. I dig the scent a lot! Balanced intensity in the jar. In the hair; no need to use an additional parfum.

STYLING PROCESS

My hair type: medium thick, wavy, somewhat unruly hair, medium length. I wear a contour.

My styling equipment: Denman brush D3, Bixby comb and a boar brush.

Application: 3 licks on damp hair. Eases application and helps to tame my waves better.

Scooping: easy to scoop pomade. Feels thick, waxy.

Breakdown: goes easy, transforms into a creamy consistency. There’s some greasiness and oiliness, with a somewhat sticky, thick, waxy feel.

Working in: no hassle, minimal tugging and pulling. Distributes easily throughout your mane.

Combing back: minor tension. Combing to the side goes comfortable as well.

Control: great! The Ceres lays down the hair without any struggle. It tames the waves, cowlicks. No stray hair or splits. Provides good height and shape. Wonderful pomade: very balanced, well-made and so comfortable! Well done, this belongs to my favorites!

SHINE

On the label, it says 3/5: a great medium shine which stays whole day.

HOLD

4/5: nice solid medium hold in my mop.

ENDURANCE

Although being a medium hold, Ceres endured well! I wore the pomade in very hot summer weather temperatures (99° F/37° C). It did a great job keeping everything together well: just some strays as a result of sweating a lot. Chrissi’s offers a firm and heavy as well. These work easy too. Ideal for the summer.

RESTYLING

Restyling is key when using an oil based. Ceres restyles greatly!

BUILD UP

Don’t wash my hair on a daily base. Build up for me: water, tonic and 2 scoops to revive everything. This build up feels clean and very manageable next days.

WASH OUT

Ease of wash-ability is different for everybody. A few washes and all will be out.
