Company – product
Boulevard dayz is a water based pomade, more specific an ‘orthodox’, ’ringing’ gel’ or gel pomade. Made by Londontown barbershop, Boulevard nights pomade LLC, Tucson AZ. Boulevard nights is the medium, that one came first.

My hair profile
I’ve medium thick, wavy hair. I wear a side part with a contour. I used a wide tooth comb plus a brush with wild boar hair. At the time I used this, my hair was short (long enough to make a side part and small contour).
Comes in a plastic 4 oz container. The pomade inside the canister is light brown.
Deionized Water, Ceteareth-25, PEG-80 Jojoba Wax, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Propanediol (Corn Sugar Derived), PEG-7 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dimethicone Copolyol, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolione, Blue 1, Violet 2, Fragrance.
The ingredients in here condition hair and scalp. The company claims this product does not damage the hair. Contains the same ingredients as the medium, boulevard nights.
Fresh, clean cologne scent, more of a basic and safe scent but okay anyway. Not overwhelming. I smelled whiffs once in a while throughout my day. Personally, it recalls Suavecito firme but I do like latter one’s scent a lot more.
Application process – result
Not a lot of pressure needed to scoop out. Has a tick, sticky, typical orthodox water based texture. Breaks down with a tad of pressure. Application on damp hair: some tension. Applying on dry hair: more tug and pull but a stronger hold. Gives a stable, strong grip, a bit grippy as you slick the hair back. Straightens waves. Manages my cowlicks sufficient. Slicks down the sides okay. Styling time: average. Not the easiest, most comfortable to style with. I prefer mediums when it comes to gel pomades. Hair held shape after styling. Hairdo: have had better: hair looked flat maybe I used too much. Hair height: okay but expected some more volume for a strong hold.
Medium, will fade like any other gel pomade once the water evaporates.
Hold – endurance
On the label: strong hold. For me: strong hold for my hair as well. Holds the hair in place the whole day. Had to deal with a few strays and flyaways but that’s normal. Firms up a little but does not harden into a helmet. Heavy wind, rain, a walk, some cycling kept my hair shape alright. Endures the heat (till 104 I’ve experienced). Tamed cowlicks, waves, sides okay. No splits. Provides good control. Volume: not much.
Certainly need water to restyle. Without water source: lots of pull. Hold the same after restyling. Medium shine returns. Does not flake.
Just water to rinse out completely: it’s a water-soluble. Hair plus scalp felt soft afterwards: great! To me that’s very important. But it is better to judge again after using this gel pomade for a longer time as gel pomades dry out the hair more or less.
